Folk Tale Week 2025

I love the magic in Folk and fairy Tales, anything can happen. Last week I joined in with the FolK Tale Week Challenge over on Instagram. It was really fun and there were so many brilliant drawings. The prompts for the daily drawings were night, echo, charm, storm and dawn.

A big thank you to the hosts of this challenge ✨@debrastyer , @louve.draws and @matejalukezic.

It was night in the kingdom of Snickingbottom and the stars had fallen!

Worried residents gathered in the streets to see the fallen stars.

With a clattering swoosh the bellows of the King echoed round the dark streets.

‘Where’s my hero to save us’ he shouted.

(The snores are coming from the Hero’s house!)

The king was furious when he found his Hero still sleeping. ‘Get out there and save us from this peril!’ shouted the king

‘My king I cannot go out in the rain with these new curls! ‘ The Hero replied

A stranger had come into town to find shelter from the rain.

The witch already knew the King’ s Hero wasn’t going to be of any help. She went to look in her books to see if they could tell her how to get the stars back up into the sky.

The stranger knocks at the door and the witch instantly recognises Lily, her niece.

She’s wearing the charm the witch had been reading about in her book of how to get the stars back home.

Lily uses the charm to catch her Wolf friend’s song, creating a storm of sound and light. This swirls the stars back up into the sky.

By dawn the stars were back where they should be. Lily, the wolf and the witch were relieved as people of Snickingbottom celebrated.

I learnt a lot doing folktale week, like maybe I should plan ahead bit more 😅so I don’t have to rush & the characters aren’t as consistent as I’d like.

Do you have a favourite folk or fairy tale ?
